A competitive sport for dogs is Musical freestyle. Musical freestyle is like a dog obedience show but the movements of the handler and the dog should go with the rhythm of the music. The movements of the handler and the dog would look more like a dance performance because of the rhythm of the music they had to follow. The main purpose of this sport is to show the talent of the dog. Since the talent of the dog is the main objective of this sport, it does not mean that the role of the handler is not that important. The role of the handler is also important because the handler will be the one to guide the dog during the performance. The costumes and the movement of the handler also has points in the over all performance. There are some restrictions in this sport like food, you can use commands during the performance but no foods are to be given to the dog during the performance. This sport is somewhat like an obedience dog show but should look more like a dance performance. There are three classes in this sport: Individual, Brace and team. In the class of Individual, there should be one handler and one dog. While in the Brace class, there should be two handlers and each with a dog. On the Team class, there should be three or more handlers and each one of them with a dog.
First and foremost, the skill that a dog needs in this type of sport is obedience. Mastery is just another skill that a dog can learn by means of practicing everyday. There are more skill that a dog can develop in this kind of sport, may it be physical or mental.
